About Regional Development

The regional development work involves initiating, coordinating, and driving regional development processes in broad collaboration with the region's stakeholders to strengthen the competitiveness of all of Värmland. Companies, organizations, municipalities, regions, universities, and government agencies are all important partners in this work. The regional development work is based on knowledge of the region's conditions and needs for processes and efforts to create an attractive and competitive region.

Within the area of Regional Development, you will work alongside approximately 45 experienced, competent, engaged, and creative colleagues.

In addition to a smaller finance team, you will also be part of the planning unit in the department for regional development. Other professionals in the unit handle assignments related to urban planning, electricity and energy issues, transport infrastructure, and digital infrastructure. In the department, we also work on issues related to business development, skills supply, EU matters, analysis, processing project applications, and business support.

Your Responsibilities

As a project economist within Region Värmland, you will have a broad role that includes various aspects. The work involves financially managing some of the projects for which Region Värmland is the main administrator. Your tasks will include managing project bookkeeping, administration, requisition, reporting, follow-up, budgeting, and forecasting. You will be a key person in the projects and a support to the organization, project managers, and colleagues. Additionally, you will be part of a finance team and contribute to the annual accounts for the entire department based on your areas of responsibility.

Region Värmland grants approximately 50 million kronor annually in co-financing for various regional projects affecting Värmland. Therefore, Region Värmland works to review incoming requisitions from the relevant projects and make payments of these project funds.

The role of project economist entails a dynamic position that requires skill, accuracy, flexibility, analytical ability, and collaboration both internally and externally.

Your Qualifications and Skills

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in economics.

It is important that you can work independently and take initiative, that you are structured, meticulous, persistent, and have good analytical skills. You have the ability to build relationships both internally and externally, so it is important that you can communicate easily and build trusting relationships with others. You see the bigger picture, consider the broader perspective, and prioritize the best interests of the entire organization in your actions and decisions. Personal suitability will be highly valued.

It is an advantage if you have a degree in economics with a focus on accounting, as well as experience in accounting and annual accounts. It is also beneficial if you have previously worked in public administration and have experience in project accounting and project administration, especially with EU-funded projects.
